NEW Destination for Dove Hunting Uruguay - Estancia Mercedes
And yes, Luxury Uruguay Dove Hunting and Perdiz Hunting

Los Gauchos Outfitters has a new lodge on the list for Uruguay dove hunting. Located in Mercedes, Uruguay (about 3.5 hours from Montevideo and only 1.5 hours from the Colonia port), this first class lodge offers high volume dove shooting and Perdiz hunting out of one lodge, one location. Unlike many of the Los Gauchos dove hunting destinations, Estancia Mercedes is a true, authentic lodge with dove shooting roosts never more than 20 mins from the front door. Dove hunting is available year round and the combo of doves and Perdiz hunting can be taken May, June, or July. While there is no limit for dove hunting in Uruguay, the Perdiz hunting is a 10 bird limit per hunter/per day. So, experience a good shooting combo of high volume, as fast as you can load dove hunting with the serene, challenging, Perdiz hunting.

Like other dove hunting trips in Uruguay or Argentina, the standard trip schedule is 3 days. However, since Estancia Mercedes also offers the Upland hunt of Perdiz, four days is a good time frame to get both species.

The time is now for Uruguay dove hunting. Uruguay, this place which was once a province of Argentina has now emerged as a wingshooting paradise. Argentina dove hunting gets most of the press, but that has been changing in recent years. Uruguay is getting the respect it deservs as a high volume dove shooting destinaton--as well as the best place in the world to shoot ducks.

The best dove hunting Uruguay is capable of delivering is also a big part of what is sure to become Uruguay's legacy in the world of dove shooting in South America.

Uruguay Bird Hunting
Dove Hunting Uruguay

Uruguay bird hunting has been an esoteric activity only partaken by a select few, until Los Gauchos started promoting it in 2003. Since then, the country has exploded like an atom bomb on the international wingshooting scene. No other country in the world offers so much great shooting in a limited space that is roughly the size of the state of Washington. Uruguay has toll roads that are in excellent condition, and the travel between the shooting grounds and the lodges is fast and easy.

Uruguay bird hunting will remind you much more of a shooting trip in Europe, than Latin America.

Uruguay is not plagued with the poverty and problems that much of Latin America is facing today, and for this reason, it is a great place for hunting and fishing in South America. One need not worry about being robbed or mugged, or other security issues. Of course, one should exercise caution in any environment, and never let one's guard down, but there is no history of crime against hunters in Uruguay, and no trend toward this in the future.

Many folks ask, how do you compare Uruguay dove hunting to Argentina dove hunting? Well, how fast can you pull the trigger and reload the gun? If you can bring three guns and have a reloader, then maybe you can do better with Cordoba dove hunting--otherwise, you will shoot about the same. In Uruguay, you can kill doves as fast as you can reload.

So what are you waiting for? The Uruguay bird hunting is excellent and the fishing is superb as well--call to book your trip today!

Uruguay Dove Hunting - A Stand Alone or Mixed Bag Trip

Certainly, there is enough gunning to be had on a three day Uruguay dove hunting trip to satisfy even the most demanding international wingshooter.  Therefore, one can book a stand alone shoot, or a combination, which normally lasts five days.   The other species to be combine while dove hunting in Uruguay is up to you…your options are: Perdiz

Bird Hunting in Uruguay
The northwest part of Uruguay is by far as good as Cordoba when it comes to dove hunting. The sky full of doves and the millions of roosts that make up this rich agriculture farmland of Uruguay makes the wingshooting spectacular.

Another popular bird hunt in Uruguay is the Upland hunt for Perdiz.

Perdiz is the common name for the quail-like bird that is unique to Argentina and Uruguay. The hunting consists of walking in short grasslands with the setters or Brittanies assisting with the location of the Perdiz.

The Perdiz will shoot up once the dogs go on point, making the shooting a challenge but one that most hit the limit in the afternoon or morning time frame.

Bird hunting in Uruguay with Los Gauchos means excellent hunting (consistent, top hunting equipment, top professional guides, and luxury accommodations) but also an excellent trip to a South American country that is worth the trip and experience of the Uruguay culture.
Perdiz Hunting in Uruguay
Perdiz hunting in Uruguay is not to be overlooked at Estancia Mercedes. Perdiz are hunted over Brittanies and the limit is 10 birds per hunter/per day. A shooter can expect 30-45 flushes per Perdiz hunt. Typically done in the morning or afternoon in combination with the high volume doves.
